CITY OF SYLVANIA REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES June 1, 2010, 6:00 P.M. PRESENT: Mayor Evans Council Members: Beasley, Cleland, Mercer, & Smith ABSENT: Council Members: Dees & Sheppard INVOCATION: The Mayor called the meeting to order and Council Member Cleland led in prayer and the pledge of allegiance to the flag. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: There was a general consensus to approve the agenda as presented. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: MINUTES PREVIOUS MEETING: There was a general consensus to approve the May 18, 2010 council minutes as presented. All voted aye. REPORT ON COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR 305 & 307 SOUTH MAIN STREET: The Sylvania Planning & Design Commission and Sylvania Building Inspector have inspected 305 & 307 South Main Street and agree that these properties have met the compliance requirements. They are recommending that Sylvania City Council give their final approval. No motion was made. NEW BUSINESS: APPROVE PAYING HGBD TO DESIGN WATERLINE IMPROVEMENTS: A motion was made by Council Member Cleland and seconded by Council Member Beasley to approve Hussey, Gay, Bell & Deyoung to design waterline improvements for Plum and Thompson Streets at an estimated cost of $15,000 to $20,000. All voted aye. EXPLANATION OF UTILTIY RATE COMPARISON & ANALYSIS: Finance Director Stacy Mathis presented Council with a website tool available through GEFA that compares water and sewer rates to other providers in the State of Georgia. No motion was made.ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Council Member Mercer and seconded by Council Member Cleland to adjourn at 6:23pm. All voted aye. |
